Rourkela: Justice AK Patnaik, former Judge of Supreme Court of India, is on a three-day visit to Sundargarh for review and monitoring utilization of funds under Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC).
Justice Patnaik, as head of the oversight body to monitor the projects, visited and reviewed various OMBADC projects of health, drinking water, livelihood, women empowerment etc like Community Health Center of Sarsara Balang; Water Conservation, SMC and Mega Piped Water Supply System at Lalai; reverse osmosis (RO) and Dug-well at Godrauan; Khandadhar Eco Tourism Project and associated livelihood initiatives under Bonai Sub-division area.
The State team of OMBADC, Chief Engineer of RWSS, Director of Health Services accompanied Justice Patnaik. Besides, Sundargarh Collector Rashmita Panda, CDMO Dilip Kumar Sarangi, PD DRDA Bhumesh Chandra Behera and Bonai Sub-Collector Prabir Nayak were present at the sites during the field visits.
During the visit of Justice Patnaik, people submitted some memorandums and demanded posting of doctors in the area. Different Public Representatives, Panchayat Samiti Chairman of Bonai Block, Zilla Praishad Member of Lahunipara Block, Sarapanch of Kuliposh were present during the visit of Justice Patnaik and discussed on different issues.
Notably, the Supreme Court has appointed Justice A K Patnaik, a retired judge of the apex court, as the head of the oversight body to monitor the utilisation of funds collected from erring mining companies in three districts i.e Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh of Odisha.
