Former Odisha MLA Debendra Kanhar Arrested From Andhra Pradesh

Phulbani: The Odisha Police eventually arrested former MLA Debendra Kanhar from Icchapuram of Andhra Pradesh today.

Kanhar was on the run since a girl levelled allegations of molestation against him on September 4. Also case was booked against him and his driver for allegedly misbehaving the mother of the girl also.

Kandhamal police had setup two teams to trace the former lawmaker who was finally arrested from Andhra Pradesh.

Kanhar is facing charges under sections 451 (house-trespass), 294 (obscene act), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (molestation), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 370 (exploitation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Two of his associates Rinku Sahoo and Baijayanti Kanhar are also co-accused in this case.
