Mayurbhanj: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Mayurbhanj district police was arrested on Tuesday and forwarded to court on charges of molesting a woman, Said Superintendent of Police, Mayurbhanj, Smit P. Parmar.
In May, the accused Subhendu Kumar Behera when posted as ASI at Kaptipada police station had forcefully entered a woman’s home and molested her, said reports. She had filed a complaint and then even met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik where she shared her grievance.
Following her complaint, the errant ASI was then transferred to Baripada Police Station.
Previously too, Behera was suspended for drunk driving and then causing an accident said Mayurbhanj SP.
Following the investigation in the molestation case, the Police found evidence in support of the women’s allegation and the Behera was arrested. He will be forwarded to court soon.
