Bhubaneswar: The total estimated damage done to trees and infrastructure in forest areas by cyclone FANI stands at Rs 537 crores, as reported by the Forest and Environment Department, informed I&PR Secretary Sanjay Singh on Saturday.
Singh informed that as per data provided by Forest Department, almost nine lakh trees in forest and sanctuary area, worth approximately Rs 270 crores, have been damaged. Similarly, five lakh trees out of forest and sanctuary area, worth approximately Rs 150 crores, uprooted or severely damaged.
Besides, eight lakh seedlings ready for plantation, worth approximately Rs 39.50 crores, have been damaged. Further, other infrastructures in forest areas, worth approximately Rs 78 crores, including roads, culverts, rest houses, boats and vessels, have been damaged.
