For This Odisha Cop ‘Police Medal’ Turns Elusive As STF Summons For ‘Mining Mafia Links’

15 August 2019

Bhubaneswar: Even though the Odisha Chief Minister decorated several police officers and policemen with medals for gallantry, meritorious and distinguished services on the occasion of Independence Day, Khurda Sadar Police Station (PS) IIC Bikram Jena was not conferred with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service despite his name in the list published on the eve of the significant national ceremony.

The reason behind it is the summons served by State Crime Branch’s Special Task Force (STF) for the alleged links with mining mafia of Khurda district. A number of the culprits are already in the dragnet of STF. STF is still investigating into the case and trying to catch other fries suspected to be hand in glove with the mining mafia.

Khurda Sadar PS IIC Bikram Jena has been summoned by the STF and he has to depose on Saturday.

STF sources said that the summoned IIC knows several matters with regard to the illegal stone quarrying and drug peddling under the jurisdiction of his Khurda Sadar Police Station.

On the other hand, the IIC in question has defended that he is in no way linked with the mining mafia.
