Bhubaneswar: Poor visibility due to dense foggy conditions across the State affected vehicular movement and invariably daily life was thrown out of gear too. Apart from Twin City, heavy mist and fog was noticed in Puri and Kandhamal as well.

Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt due to poor visibility. Office goers and school students reached their destinations very late as bus drivers had to be extra cautious while driving amidst thick blanket of fog. Till 9 am in the morning, cars and bikes had their headlights on to navigate their way through the fog.

A blanket of fog also enveloped the pilgrim town of Puri today and the 12th century shrine was not noticeable despite being in the visibility range. Fog also shrouded Konark Sun Temple and the Grand Road of the pilgrim town causing inconvenience for the tourists.

The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the fog situation will continue for the next couple of days. Reports stated that warning in this regard has been issued for Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.

After Makar Sankranti, the temperature was beginning to warm up when this sudden change has taken everyone by surprise. It is notable to mention here that such conditions are also increasing the probability of road accidents.
