Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been disrupted due to flash floods caused by heavy rains in various parts of Rayagada, Malkangiri and Kandhamal districts of Odisha.

Incessant rains triggered flood-like situation in River Kalyani as a result of which over 63 families in Rayagada have been shifted to relief camps.

Local BDO, Tahsildar and police have rushed to the affected areas and along with rescue operations providing dry food to affected people.

The boundary wall of a Kanya Ashram in Dangasil village under Kashipur block of the district have also collapsed due to heavy rain triggering a water logging situation.

As the rains continue to lash the area, many people are stranded inside their homes. The district administration is trying its best to reach near the affected people and shift them to safe places.

Almost all of Malkangiri district have been cut off from the outer world as flood water have submerged roads and bridges across the affected region.

The unrelenting downpour in Kandhamal district has caused many rivers and canals to overflow wreaking havoc in the district.

Traffic has been disrupted between Baliguda and Jharipani of the district after a slab of connecting bridge was damaged in the flood waters. Similar situation was experienced in Bataguda village as water from River Khadag have submerged the under construction approach road.
