Bhubaneswar: Summer is setting in, we are all feeling the occasional heat waves during the day. It is getting a little sultry and sticky out there and the temperatures are on the rise mostly.

So before the sweltering heat intensifies in the elections season, here are a few things our Netas and their followers can do to keep things cool during their poll campaigns.

The advices come from Dr Ashok Kumar Patnaik, Director of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar with whom OMMCOM NEWS interacted on Wednesday. Here are the excerpts:

  1. Campaign till 10 am and stay indoors till 3 pm. Resume the campaign late afternoon.
  2. Drink sufficient water while leaving home in the morning, keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
  3. Consume watermelon, cucumber in adquate amounts and if possible carry these items along with.
  4. People having diabetes, hypertension should strictly remain indoors in the peak hours and use a cap and umbrella whenever they move outdoors.
  5. Use full clothes and try not to expose body parts to the sun rays.
