Bhubaneswar: The Labour Rooms and the Maternity Operation Theatres of five government hospitals in Odisha have been 'LaQshya Certified' by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The facilities at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, District Headquarters Hospitals of Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and Rayagada and Ghatagaon Community Health Centre in Keonjhar have received the certification as per the ‘LaQshya’ programme launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in 2018.
The programme is being implemented at all Medical College Hospitals, District Hospitals and First Referral Unit (FRU), and Community Health Center (CHCs) to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality, improve quality of care during delivery and immediate post-partum period and enhance satisfaction of beneficiaries and provide Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) to all pregnant women attending public health facilities.
As per the programme, all the above hospitals underwent assessment by team of empanelled External Assessors in the month of June. The Quality Improvement in the facilities was assessed through NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) and every facility achieving 70 per cent score and above on NQAS was certified as LaQshya certified facility.
It is also worthwhile to mention that the twelve departments of Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital had also underwent assessment for NQAS certification in the month of July and have been 'Quality Certified' under NQAS.
Reportedly, facilities achieving NQAS certification, defined quality indicators and 80 per cent satisfied beneficiaries will be provided incentive of Rs 6 lakh, Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for Medical College Hospital, District Hospital and FRUs respectively.
