Paradip: A trawler capsized near the Mahanadi mouth in the Bay of Bengal here on Tuesday. The incident occurred at around 3 pm few kilometres away from the Nehru bungalow area.
There were five persons in the fishing trawler named Maa Jadua out of which two were rescued. Three of the fishermen in trawler are still missing.
A rescue operation has been launched by local authorities to trace the missing fishermen. The fishermen had gone into the deep sea three days ago. Today, on their way back to the shore, the trawler capsized near the Mahanadi mouth.
The people rescued have been identified as Gangadhar Das and Nanda Das of Aradi in Bhadrak district. The fishermen who are still missing are Santosh Das, Nachia Das and a relative of Gangadhar.
To rescue the fishermen, local people and marine police have launched a joint operation. Sources said, the mouth of Mahanadi near Nehru Bungalow is getting filled with sand due to which accidents have become a common affair at this spot.
