Fire Safety NOC Of Hotels & Bars Under Scanner

Bhubaneswar: Director General Fire Service B K Sharma on Wednesday informed that fire safety certificates of some hotels have been cancelled.

Sharma said that ‘no objection certificates’ (NOCs) of these hotels are not valid.

"It has come to our notice that fire safety certificates in possession of some hotels are not valid. It was not within the powers of the officer who had issued those to issue the same," pointed out Sharma talking to reporters here.

"We have cancelled those Fire NOCs under the provisions of the Odisha

Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Rules, 2017," he added.

The DG Fire Services said that the concerned hotels have been intimated in writing while adding that they have been asked to apply as per procedure and avail fire safety certificate which includes inspection.

Sharma said that there are certain eligibility norms like installation of fire safety equipment etc. after fulfilling those they can get fire safety certificates.

Since Fire NOCs of these hotels have been cancelled, competent authorities have been informed to take appropriate action, he added.
