Bhubaneswar: The capital city woke up to the suicide of a 20-year-old science student named Sangeeta Mallick, who was found hanging in her room at New Forest Park area. Her father Arjun Mallick has cried foul play in the suicide of his daughter.

He has lodged an FIR in Airfield PS alleging that someone must have impelled her to take such a drastic step. According to the FIR, the deceased received numerous calls from a particular number the previous night, which had broken her down completely.

“I and my sister lived together but had different rooms. Yesterday, everything was normal. We had our dinner and went back our rooms. I discovered her hanging body only in the morning around 7 am. I don’t know what happened,” cried out Sonalika Mallick, the deceased’s elder sister.

The police have registered an UD case. According to DCP Satyabrata Bhoi, “We have sent the body for post mortem. We will investigate in the lines of the allegations of the deceased’s father and examine the said number. We will take all the necessary steps and interrogate the sister and friends of the deceased to ascertain the real cause behind this death.”
