Farmers Agitation In Odisha's Jharsuguda Over Chhattisgarh Police Action

Jharsuguda: Protests erupted at Kanaktora village after the paddy-laden vehicle of a farmer was seized by Raigarh police at Odisha-Chhattisgarh border here on Wednesday.

The incident was reported by a farmer, Manoj Meher of Kanaktora whose vehicle was detained by Raigarh's Jutemill police today. The locals alleged that this was a regular practice adopted by the police of the neighbouring State.

The local farmers carried out an agitation and blocked the Ektal road connecting Odisha and Chhattisgarh which affected public thoroughfare.

A team from the district administration led by Sub-Collector and Additional SP visited the spot and addressed the grievances of the locals. Collector Saroj Samal said that the matter is being monitored and shall be resolved at the earliest.
