Kendrapara: Close on the heels of announcing special package for the cyclone-affected Puri district yesterday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today toured Kendrapara and also announced relief package for this coastal district hit by the recent Cyclone FANI.

Soon after reviewing the post cyclone situation at the Office of the Collector & District Magistrate in the headquarters town here, the Chief Minister announced the special package.

Briefing media, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “I have just had a review with the district administration about the post cyclone situation. In Kendrapara district’s restoration work, power supply and drinking water have been completed.”

“30 cyclone shelters at the rate of Rs 2 crore each will be constructed in vulnerable locations. For repair of damage caused to school buildings, Anganwadi centres and public utility assets owned by the panchayats, an assistance of Rs 2 lakh per structure will be provided,” he announced.

The CM stated, “I have directed the district administration to immediately take steps for implementing the livelihood package for Self Help Groups (SHGs), farmers and fishermen.”

“I assure you not a single eligible person will be left out. Wherever there are gaps in the embankments, that would be strengthened,” he averred.

The Chief Minister also extended assistance to 12 cyclone victims during his review tour.

In her reactions, cyclone victim Laxmipriya Sahoo of Narayanpur said, “Our house got damaged by uprooted tree during FANI cyclone. We were in great trouble. Chief Minister’s Kendrapara visit helped me a lot. Now I feel very happy. We will build house from the financial assistance received today.
