Bhubaneswar: Even though former BJD leader Damodar Rout is now in BJP after his ouster as well as fielded from Balikuda-Ersama assembly seat against BJD’s candidate and on the other hand his son Sambit Routray is BJD’s candidate for the adjoining Paradip seat (Damodar Rout’s bastion), Sambit today said that family relations would not stand in between politics.

In his media reactions, BJP leader Damodar Rout’s son Sambit Routray said, “It is a new equation, going to be historic. Bapa (my father) is in a different party (BJP). Doing politics is different from family affairs.”
“I’m pondering how I could win on my own. No comments on any other’s victory or defeat,” he remarked.

In his reactions, BJD candidate for Balikuda-Ersama assembly seat Raghunandan Dash argued, “No equation as this incident is pretty old in the electoral history of India. It is never new even in Odisha.”

“In Odisha, the then Chief Minister Nandini Satpathy was in one party while her son Tathagata Satpathy was in another party. Hence, it is nothing new.”

Notably, Damodar Rout has embraced BJP after his ouster from BJD for his alleged anti-party activities. He is the sitting MLA of Paradip. He has amazingly joined BJP after being averse to the saffron party during his decades-long association with late legendary Biju Patnaik and also being a BJD leader under Biju Babu’s son Naveen Patnaik.
