Cuttack: The fake oil racket which was busted in Cuttack on Wednesday, has a long network of distribution that extends upto several districts across the state.

DCP Akhilesvar Singh said on Thursday that the police have detected a couple of godowns belonging to the racketeers which was used for stocking the spurious oil and later sent for sale.

"The accused were procuring the oil from Rajasthan and then adultering it. They used to distribute it mainly in Gop, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur and other areas. The investigation is on and we are conducting raids on their godowns," Singh said.

Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani said that a joint team will be setup to investigate into the matter and ensure that such rackets are checked. "But people should be more proactive in reporting such matters to the authorities,"
