Eye Of Cyclone Amphan Close To West Bengal Coast

Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Amphan crossed West Bengal Coast between Digha and Hatiya close to Sundarbans at around 3.30 PM today and the forward sector of wall clouds entered into the land with the eye close to the coast, as informed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

At 3.30 PM today, Amphan lay centred as extremely severe cyclonic storm over northwest Bay of Bengal close to Sagar Island and about 70 km east of Digha, 210 km east-northeast of Paradip and 210 km west-southwest of Khepura (Bangladesh).

The IMD predicted that the system is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards with a wind speed of 155-165 kmph gusting to 185 kmph during the next 3 hours and weaken thereafter.

Coastal Odisha to experience wind speed of 80 to 90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph along and off Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts till afternoon and over Balasore district till evening.
