Bhubaneswar: In an ongoing investigation into a corruption case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday interrogated Kulamani Biswal, the Director (Finance) NTPC.
Biswal, who was booked by the Central Agency for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh for a personal trip abroad, has been interrogated on two occasions.
Speaking to OMMCOM NEWS, a senior official of the investigating agency said, “Biswal appeared for the second time today (on Monday), and deposed before the investigating officer. He had appeared at the CBI, first on Saturday.”
In its FIR which was registered on December 7, the national investigation agency also booked the Director of BGR Mining and Infra Private Limited, Rohit Reddy Bathina, a middle-man Prabhat Kumar and others for criminal conspiracy and other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
“So far, the CBI has grilled Biswal and Rohit’s father. Rohit who has been booked for abetting a Government servant for receiving an illegal gratification, will be appearing before the agency soon,” the official added.
Meanwhile, repeated attempts by this news portal to contact Biswal for his reaction, turned futile, as his cell phone remained unreachable.
