Bhubaneswar: Soon after resigning from BJD, former minister and ex-Basta MLA Raghunath Mohanty today joined BJP at the saffron party’s State Party Headquarters late afternoon here in presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Damodar Rout.

Notably, he quit BJD last week (March 31) and prior to that he had resigned from the post of Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation. He had handed over his resignation to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik citing personal reasons.

His resignation letter had mentioned, “I am tendering my resignation from Primary Membership as well as Vice President of Biju Janata Dal, Odisha, Bhubaneswar for the personal reason.”

It was said that Mohanty was upset over being denied a party ticket to contest the upcoming polls.
