EOW Arrests Builder On Charges Of Grabbing Lingaraj Temple Land

Bhubaneswar: A real estate developer accused of grabbing land of Lord Lingaraj Mahaprabhu was arrested and court forwarded by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar today.

The accused Pradeep Kumar Mishra was arrested based on a complaint lodged by Executive Officer of Lord Lingaraj Temple Office, Abanikant Mohanty.

Investigation revealed that an area of 0.819 acre in Basuaghai mauza under Bhubaneswar Tehsil had been recorded in the name of Shree Lingaraj Dev Bije, Bhubaneswar Marfat Brundaban Mahapatra and Durga Charan Mahapatra, who had died since long.

Kedarnath Mahapatra, adopted son of Late Durga Charan Mahapatra, being a Marfatdar of Shree Lingaraj Dev Bije had no power to transfer the said properties.

However, he in 2002 and 2004 executed two General Power of Attorneys for selling the land in favour of Pradeep who is the Director of M/s Sampad Builders Pvt Limited.

Subsequently, Pradeep sold the land to seven customers suppressing the fact in connivance with Kedarnath.

Based on a case registered on January 12 this year, Lingaraj police arrested Kedarnath on April 7. He has since been tagged in this case of EOW and the investigation is still in progress.
