Khurda: The pachyderms have caused fear and panic again in Khurda as a woman was critically injured while several sacks of paddy were destroyed as wild elephants entered human habitation early today morning.

The injured woman has been identified as Basanti Balabanta Ray of Brundabanpur village. She was injured in an elephant attack when she was on her way to attend nature’s call near Chitrakuta hills in Khurda district. Reportedly, 40 sacks of paddy were also destroyed by the wild elephants in Tangi.

Till last reports came in, Basanti was undergoing treatment in Sadar Medical Hospital and forest officials were yet to reach the spot.
