Elephant Menace: 5 Trampled To Death In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Jumbo menace is back to haunt people again and tension gripped Talcher area today as five persons were killed in separate elephant attacks here. Reportedly, a herd of elephants crossed Brahmani river and strayed into human habitation late last night.

The first incident occurred in Sandha village. Four persons including three of a family were trampled to death while sleeping on their verandah in the village. Among the four persons there were two girls and a woman.

The elephants then wandered off towards Santhapada village. A 70-year-old man Bhrama Samal was attending nature’s call when the elephants trampled him to death.

On intimation, forest officials reached the spot and initiated efforts to shoo the elephants away. The wild pachyderms were finally caught at around 10 pm night.
