Angul: Carcass of a tusker was discovered in a forest under Khamar forest range in Pallahara of Angul district today.

Reportedly, the pachyderm was killed for its tusks, which have been cut off by poachers.

Meanwhile, the Forest department officials have seized the body and started an investigation into the incident.

Earlier on October 28, carcasses of at least seven elephants were found lying near Kamalanga village in Sadar forest range of Dhenkanal district.

The pachyderms had been electrocuted to death after coming in contact with low-hanging live 11KV wires that were laid by the railway department for track construction work.
