Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today lodged an FIR with the Kharavela Nagar Police Station (PS) against its bête noire Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing it of cheating the 4.5 crore people of Odisha by dropping the Special Category Status promise this time in the manifesto unveiled yesterday by BJP president Amit Shah.

The BJD delegation was led by its party spokesperson Sasmit Patra who was seen explaining the Kharavela Nagar PS IIC about the purpose of the FIR.

As a part of the queer political wrestling, the BJD’s police complaint mentions, “This is to bring before you a serious case of cheating by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Odisha. In 2014, in their election manifesto they had promised that if they came to power, they would provide Special Category Status to Odisha. However, when they came to power, they did not keep up to their promise and cheated the 4.5 crore people of Odisha.”

“This cheating has been proven when in 2019 election manifesto, they dropped the very aspect of Special Category Status for Odisha which they had as the No.1 point on the first page of their 2014 election manifesto. This conclusively proves that while for five years they were in power in Centre, they promised but cheated the 4.5 crore people of Odisha and their dropping of that promise from their 2019 election manifesto shows that they do not want to deliver on their promise anymore. This is a serious offence and construes cheating the people of Odisha,” argues BJD.

On the contrary, Vice President of Odisha BJP said, "This is absolutely ridiculous."
