Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) spokesperson Sasmit Patra on Sunday questioned former Union Minister Srikant Jena's concern for Odisha in reaction to his suggestions over the formation of new railway zone South Coast Railway (SCoR) and bifurcation of East Coast Railway (ECoR).

Patra said why Jena had not mentioned about the issue while he was the Union Minister in the Congress-led UPA government.

If he had real concern about the development of Odisha, why he remained silent when Ministry of Railways dropped the proposed work of setting up of a Wagon Manufacturing Factory at Sitalapalli and shifting of the proposed railway wagon factory at Narla.

Patra said, Jena then supported Congress instead of supporting the development of Odisha but now when he has been expelled from Congress there is no need of giving such statements.

Patra's statements came after Jena suggested that some portions of Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand and Kharagpur division should be carved out to create new railway divisions at Jharsuguda and Rourkela and at Balasore respectively. He said that through this Odisha could pay additional Rs 10,000 crore to Indian Railway.
