EC Ambassador Dutee Chand Accused Of Canvassing For BJD Kandhamal LS Candidate Achyuta Samanta

Bhubaneswar: Odia athlete Dutee Chand who is an Ambassador of the Election Commission has been accused of canvassing for BJD candidate for Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat, Achyuta Samanta through social media.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar informed that as per the Election Commission guidelines there are some protocols to be followed by the Ambassador. He told that his office will first check the concerned post and take appropriate action in this regard.

While Kandhamal is going to elections in the second phase polling on April 18, Dutee in her Facebook post had congratulated Achyuta stating she is hopeful that large number of voters of the parliamentary constituency will elect him for development of Kandhamal district.

"I pray to God to fulfill your dream of developing Kandhamal as a Smart District," she added.

However, she later deleted the said post and published another in clarification where she asserted of congratulating Achyuta on a personal term and she does not support any political party.

She further stated that she considers Achyuta at par with God as he had supported her in nurturing her sports career and requested all not to politicize it.
