Jharsuguda: Doppler Very high frequency Omni-directional Range (DVOR) facility was installed and made functional at the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in here on Monday.

The construction work for DVOR had started in February and a team from Airports Authority of India visited Jharsuguda airport on in July to check the system, informed Sudesh Kumar Chauhan, director of the airport.

The DVOR will be used by the aircraft to find out the radial and distance from the airport. It will facilitate take-off and landing of aircrafts during inclement weather conditions.

DVOR is a standard International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) ground-based radio navigational aid that provides bearing information to aircraft to define air traffic control routes for en-route, terminal and instrument approach/departure procedures.
