Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the second consecutive day on Tuesday demolished all makeshift cabins, huts, structures etc. near the Regional Transport Office (RTO)-2 erected on government land here.
The BDA and BMC had carried out a similar demolition drive at RTO-1 on Monday.
The demolition drive is in line with the steps advised by Transport Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda to all Regional Transport Officers through a circular issued on Friday last to free RTO offices across the State from the influence of middlemen/agents.
Panda had directed RTOs for dismantling of all gomutis / temporary huts etc. erected inside the office premises or on the side of boundary wall on government land with the help of local authority and create a people friendly ambience in these offices.
Reports said as many as seven illegal structures near the RTO-2 erected on government land were demolished.
Notably, these huts, cabins etc. functioned as site offices of the middlemen and agents who used to operate in the RTO office.
