Domesticated Elephant Goes Berserk, Attacks Picnic Party In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A group of youths were attacked by a domesticated elephant at Sitakund in Similipal National Park. The youths had come to Sitakund for a picnic and were enjoying their time. All of a sudden, a domesticated elephant Bablu went berserk and attacked the picnickers.

Though a chain was tied to Bablu's feet, the pachyderm ate food items brought by them for the feast. Out of fear people were also seen running in different directions. After an ordeal of two hours, the mahout was able to bring the animal under control.

The incident spread panic among other groups which gathered there for picnic. According to reports, many of the groups escaped and rushed to safety. Forest Department officials arrived at the spot and inquired about the matter from the local officials.
