Reportedly, Narendranath Mohanty of Dundaria village under Kaptipada police limits had been admitted in the CHC yesterday after he complained of diarrhoea.

He was administered a saline which his family later discovered had expired in October 2019. Irate over this the family members of Mohanty gheraoed the on-duty doctor Umakant Baske.

While Baske in his defense said it is not possible on his part to look into everything and the nurse on duty should check the saline before administering it to the patient, it was found that few other patients had also been administered expired saline.

The patients and their attendants alleged medical negligence by the doctor and the hospital staff and demanded that all the medicines in the storeroom of the CHC should be checked if they have expired.
