Junagarh (Kalahandi): Tension ran high at Junagarh Community Health Centre (CHC) here on Tuesday morning after a doctor allegedly referred a patient to Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) even after the death.

The family members of the deceased alleged medical negligence.

According to reports, Radhamohan Patel (18) of Kale village was admitted to CHC on Monday due to fever and stomach pain, but he succumbed on Monday night.

The family members of the deceased alleged that they informed the doctor Champak Meher when the patient’s condition worsened on Monday night, but the doctor didn’t come and assured Radhamohan will be fine.

However, after half an hour, the patient died.

Following the death of Radhamohan, locals and relatives of the patient staged a dharna by keeping the body in front of the CHC main gate. They demanded compensation for the family members of the deceased and action against the erring doctor who allegedly tried to shift the patient to Bhawanipatna hospital. Meanwhile, a compensation of Rs 10,000 (Rs 8,000 from Red Cross and Rs 2,000 under Harischandara Yojana) was handed over to the kin of the deceased.

Besides, the Block Development Officer (BDO) and Sub-Collector are probing the allegations.
