Ganjam: One person was killed while another critically injured after a firecracker burst in their hand while they were trying to lit it.

The deceased has been identified as Sumanta Das while the injured person Shradheya Das is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The mishap occurred in Shyamasundar village under Khallikote police limits. According to reports, both Sumanta and Shradheya's hands were severed after the explosion. They were rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital where Sumanta was declared dead.

In another incident, a minor boy Shyama Jena of Kairasi village sustained injuries while igniting firecrackers. He has sustained burns on his face and upper limbs.
