Bhubaneswar: Festive fervour gripped people of all ages as the sun set in Odisha to brighten the homes of many on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights.

While many home interiors were decorated with colourful rangolis, children along with their parents or guardians rushed out of their houses with candles, diyas, sparklers and different kinds of firecrackers.

Various forms and colours of light cutting through the darkness was a sight to see. The diyas and firecrackers were not only illuminating the surroundings but also lightening the faces of many.

While it was believed that rain will play a spoilsport this Diwali, people managed to get their hands on some firecrackers as the rain receded. The Supreme Court restriction on bursting of firecrackers was also not able to dampen the festive spirit of Diwali.

Many houses and buildings were also decorated with chain of lights which fulfilled the spirit of the festival.
