Paralakhemundi (Odisha): Addressing an election campaign at Gajapati district’s Paralakhemundi Siddhabadanga Ground today, BJP national president Amit Shah targeted both the Congress and BJD-led Odisha Government.

Ridiculing Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s adviser Sam Pitroda’s recent comment on the Pulwama fallout and Balakot airstrike, the BJP national president burst, “Rahul Baba’s guru Sam Pitrodaji is stressing on exchange of dialogue with Pakistan. This can be your party’s policy. But the policy of our party is lobbying bombs in retaliation to the bullets fired by the terrorists. Except Narendra Modiji, no one can handle the security of our nation.”

“BJP has given such a Prime Minister to the nation that he works for 18 hours out of the 24 hours. We have given an able, proven and sensible Prime Minister who has raised the glory of our country in the whole world,” he claimed.

Amit Shah appealed, “I urge the people of Odisha with folded hands to make BJP Government in Odisha as well as Narendra Modi the Prime Minister once again. Odisha needs a young Chief Minister to pave the path for development and make it No 1 State.”

Taking a dig at the then Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, Amit Shah said, “The Congress Government under the 13th Finance Commission had granted Odisha only Rs 80,000 crore while the BJP-led Narendra Modi Sarkar in the last five years increased it to Rs 5,56,565 crore.”

He further listed out, “Rs 43,000 crore for the railway development in Odisha, initiated three big rail line projects in Odisha, Rs 2,000 crore for the waterway, Rs 16,00 crore for IISCR, Rs 1,590 crore for AMRUT Yojana and Rs 25,000 crore for the Sagarmala project. These have been done by the BJP Government. 48 lakh poor women of Odisha have been benefitted by free of cost cooking gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana.”

On the contrary, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra termed Shah's statement as lies told to enthuse his party workers. Shah is perhaps not aware that some of BJP candidates for the upcoming elections are eager to join the BJD, he added.

Patra further suggested Shah should have explained why the BJP has not granted special category status to Odisha and MSP for farmers as promised in its 2014 manifesto.
