Dhenkanal: As per the orders of the Women & Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal, the controversial and unregistered shelter home run by Good News India (GNI) was sealed today and all 62 inmates were rehabilitated to the nearest secure child care institution.

Samal had said yesterday, “That organization had not been granted any kind of permission. They are running the shelter homes illegally. We have repeatedly asked these people to register their shelter homes under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, but they never do so. Over 20 branches of the shelter home are present in different districts. We have directed the collectors to investigate these branches and close them immediately.”

Soon after the orders, the district administration was on its toes to ensure the safety of the people. Apart from sealing the shelter homes, several documents were also seized from the controversial place.

Reportedly, a joint team of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials and District Child Protection Unit yesterday (November 30) conducted raid at a children's home run by Good News India (GNI) at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal after receiving allegations of child abuse.

While some of the inmates of the children's home (called Dream Center) have brought sexual abuse allegations against the in-charge, Simanchal Naik, few others have also brought allegations against the Founder, Faiz Rahman. While Naik has been arrested, cops have not provided any clarification on Rahman’s arrest yet.
