Dhenkanal Shelter Home Shame: Founder Arrested, Charged Under POCSO Act

Dhenkanal: The founder of the children's home run by Good News India (GNI) at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal was finally arrested by Dhenkanal Sadar police today afternoon and has been forwarded to court.

According to reports, Founder of GNI, Faiz Rahman was arrested from Anantapur in Phulnakhara. Assistant director named Udit Lima was also arrested today and in-charge Simanchal Naik was arrested on Saturday.

A total of three cases have been registered against them under the 354 (a) of Indian Penal Code and POCSO Act. Three special teams have been formed to investigate the matter further and record statements from the girls in the shelter home, informed Dhenkanal SP Santosh Kumar Nayak.

Reportedly, a joint team of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) officials and District Child Protection Unit yesterday (November 30) conducted raid at a children's home run by Good News India (GNI) at Beltikiri in Dhenkanal after receiving allegations of child abuse.

While some of the inmates of the children's home (called Dream Center) have brought sexual abuse allegations against the in-charge, Simanchal Naik, few others have also brought allegations against the Founder, Faiz Rahman.

While all three accused have been arrested, the unregistered child care institution was sealed today and all 62 inmates were rehabilitated to the nearest secure child care institution.
