Dhenkanal Boat Tragedy: Last Body Recovered From Bhuban Ghat

Dhenkanal: Six days after a boat capsized in river Brahmani at Kundandeipur under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district, body of the last missing passenger was recovered on Friday. With this, the death toll in the boat tragedy rose to four.

The deceased has been identified as Susanta Sahu of Road village. His body was fished out today at Odahna under Bhuban police limits.

The boat with nine persons including the boatman on board was travelling from Khadag Prasad to Kundandeipur on a swollen Brahmani river. Due to a flood-like situation the boat lost balance and capsized on September 7.

Out of the nine persons, five swam to the river bank while four went missing. Till last Tuesday, the bodies of three missing persons were recovered.

With the recovery of Sahu's body today, bodies of all missing persons have been recovered.

Police have seized Sahu's body for autopsy.

Earlier, bodies of Bijay Nayak, Ramesh Sahu and Biswajit Acharya were recovered on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday respectively
