Dharmendra Thanks Naveen Over 10 Acres Land For 'Paika Memorial'

Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for approving 10 acres land for the proposed Paika Memorial in Khurda. Pradhan took to Twitter expressing his gratitude over the land approval.

"The State Government has agreed to allot 10 acres land for the Paika Rebellion Memorial. I thank Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for this," Pradhan wrote on Twitter.

Sources said, the State Government has agreed to provide 10 acres of land for establishment of a ‘Paika Bidroha’ memorial at Barunei foothills.

The Union Minister added, preparations for construction of the memorial on the 200th anniversary of the rebellion has taken a step forward.

The Centre had allocated special provision in the Union Budget to commemorate 200 years of Paika Rebellion, the first organised armed rebellion against the East India Company.

"The memorial will act as an inspiration for youths of Odisha and the country," Pradhan added. He sought the cooperation of all stakeholders for the setting up of the ‘Paika Bidroha’ memorial which will be a symbol of pride of Odisha.
