Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday directed his ministers to submit monthly report cards on steps taken by their departments for implementing BJD's election manifesto. People across Bhubaneswar and the ministers themselves have wholly welcome the step taken by the CM.

OMMCOM NEWS team spoke to people in Bhubaneswar and sought their opinion on the importance of accountability and 'report card' in governance. The excerpts:

The step taken by the Chief Minister asking for report card of his ministerial colleagues is welcome. Our representatives responible for governance will be accountable, a group of denizens of Bhubaneswar said.

Another group said that an assessement is very essential to drive progress. Especially when the Chief Minister himself is so particular about the performance of his ministers, the latter will always be on their toes, the denizens added.

Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh said that report cards will help the minister to mount check on themselves and keep a track on their own Department. "We welcome the step," he said.

Minister Padmanav Behera echoed Arukh. Behera said, "The minister are accountable for their Department. To keep the trust of our voters and people of Odisha, effective implementation of the election manifesto is first step."
