DAV Girl Suicide Case: 10 Persons Interrogated By Police Including 7 Hostel Girls

Bhubaneswar: A day after the suicide of Tanya Banerjee, an under-graduate student of DAV School Of Business Management Unit VIII, the police today interrogated 10 persons regarding this case. Police questioned 7 girl students who were inmates of the hostel, the hostel superintendant, warden and security guard.

A 5-member team of the Capital Police station, led by an additional IIC has been formed to probe into the case.

DCP Satyabrata Bhoi informed that the case was registered under section 306 IPC after the deceased student’s parents filed a complaint.

Notably, Tanya Banerjee, a BCom student had committed suicide in her hostel room on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

Her parents alleged that she was being harassed by other inmates of the hostel which resulted in this drastic step by her.
