Dacoits Targeting Financial Agents Arrested In Odisha's Khurda

Khurda: Four members of a dacoit gang targeting agents of different financial institutions in Nayagarh, Khordha and Bhubaneswar have been arrested by Khordha Police.

The accused have been identified as Badal Ghadei (24), Rakesh Ghadei (23), Sanu Pradhan (20) and Sitesh Barisal (19). While Badal and Rakesh are residents of Ranpur in Nayagarh district, Sanu and Sitesh are from Laxmisagar area in Bhubaneswar.

Reportedly, while targeting financial agents some of the members of the gang wait at a distance in their car. After commission of the crime, the stolen booty is handed over to the car members and all of them disperse in different directions. After a day or two they again meet either at Bhubaneswar or Nayagarh and distribute the loot among themselves.

On August 26, they had targeted a lady agent of Bandhan Bank following which she lodged a complaint at Khordha Model Police Station. She had stated that three persons on two bikes had obstructed her, pulled her hair and snatched away her bag containing Rs 26,000 cash and her mobile phone while she was returning in her scooty after collecting the cash from Mukundprasad area.

Based on the complaint, Khorda Police formed a team under the leadership of SDPO Susil Kumar Mishra and as the only clue with them was the registration number of the bikes, they conducted raids at several places of Nayagarh, Khorda and Bhubaneswar.

Finally, the accused persons were apprehened and police also seized the stolen cash, mobile, one bent bill-hook, one Maruti Suzuki Swift car and one black colour Pulsar. Names of other associates of the accused persons have also been ascertained and raid is on to apprehend them.
