Cyclone ‘Titli’: Inter-Ministerial Central Team Assesses Damages In Gajapati

Gajapati: The 8-member Inter-Ministerial Central Team today toured this district as it has been adversely affected by the severe cyclonic storm Titli recently. The team is in Odisha since yesterday (November 1) to assess the damages caused and submit report to the Centre for assistance sought by the State Government.

Soon after the team’s arrival yesterday (Thursday), it first toured Ganjam district and had night stay in Gopalpur there.

Today the Central Team reached Gangabada area by road. It toured Baraghara village under Gangabada Gram Panchayat (GP) and interacted with the villagers. The villagers were asked to recount the nightmarish experience.

Notably, this area was the worst affected. Even 18 persons were killed in landslide.

Later assessing the damages at the ground zero, the Central Team held discussion with the Collector and district officials at the Collectorate.

The Central Team was slated to be back to Bhubaneswar by helicopter in the afternoon and hold discussion with the State Administration at the Secretariat.

The Inter-Ministerial Central Team consists of 8 members from Central Ministeries. They are SK Shah, Joint Secretary (Center-States), Ministry of Home Affair, Vandana Singhal, Chief Engineer, Ministry of Power, Rakesh Kumar, Regional Director, Ministry of RT & H, Sushant Shamal, Superintendant Engg (Coordination), Ministry of Water Resources, Virender Singh, Director, Dept of Agriculture and Co-operation and Farmers Welfare DRD, GR Zagar, Sr Consultant, Department of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation, RB Kaul, Consultant (FCD), Dept of Expenditure and Guljari Lal, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development.
