Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Thurday suspended Rayagada's Chief District Medical Officer Dr Siva Prasad Padhi over leave during an emergency. Dr Padhi had gone on a leave earlier and applied for an extension.
Since, the State Governement had clearly instructed the Collectors to ensure full attendance of government officials during cyclone Fani's impact, the punitive action was initiated, Rayagada Collector Pramod Kumar Behera said.
The Government had sought a report on the list of absentees. Earlier, strict action has been ordered against senior officials who do not report on duty during the period of emergency (Fani).
"Assistant District Medical Officer, Dr Shakti Brata Mohanty will take the CDMO charge with immediate effect," Behera added.
