Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted possibility of rain and thunderstorm at isolated places in Odisha under the influence of the cyclonic circulation lying at .9 kilometres above mean sea level over interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh.

Rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts of Odisha, informed Duty Officer of the Meteorological Centre, Gauranga Charan Behera.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching 30-40 Kmph is also likely at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Balasore districts, he added.

The depression is likely to intensify further into a deep depression during next 24 hours and move towards west-northwest and reach near north Tamil Nadu.

While fishermen have been advised not to venture into sea, distance cautionary Signal-1 has been hoisted at all ports in Odisha, said Behera.

However, heatwave condition is likely to prevail in the districts Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Boudh, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur for the next three days. Temperature above 40 degree Celsius has been reported from 11 places in Odisha, he added.
