Cyclone FANI: Odisha Fire Services Inspects Equipments, Mobilises Manpower From Safe Districts

Cuttack: The Odisha Fire Services have deputed senior officers to all the fire stations in coastal belt of Odisha to inspect the equipments and manpower required to counter the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI.

While the holidays of all fire personnel in the coastal districts have been cancelled, senior officers have been asked to camp in each of the districts and work in coordination with the district administration.

There are around 2000 fire personnel in the above mentioned fire stations, around 382 more fire personnel along with equipments are being mobilised from other districts including Boudh, Phulbani, Bolangir, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul and Dhenkanal, which are not likely to be affected by the cyclone.

The additional manpower will be prepositioned in the fire stations of coastal districts by tomorrow morning.

As an effect of the cyclone, trees and electric poles will be uprooted, roads will be blocked and communication will be disrupted, therefore the fire personnel have been empowered to cut the trees and clear the roads immediately.
