16 May 2019

Bhubaneswar: As rebuilding Odisha is now a humongous task in the wake of the havoc wreaked by the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI recently and responding to the Chief Minister’s appeal to one and all to contribute to the Relief Fund, his elder sister has responded to the need of hour and prevalent hard times.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s elder sister Gita Mehta has generously contributed Rs 10 lakh donation to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for aid to the cyclone-affected people of Odisha, sources informed.

Mrs Mehta is a distinguished author based in New York.

Notably, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is the first ever person to donate his one year's salary to the CMRF.

Cyclone FANI has caused massive devastation in Odisha, especially in Puri, Khurda and undivided Cuttack districts. Besides, the Chief Minister has formally launched Rebuild Odisha official portal and has appealed both individuals and institutions to extend financial aid so that the ongoing relief and restoration measures could be moved forward.
