Bhubaneswar: The extremely severe cyclone is approaching fast at around 20 km per hour towards the Odisha coast. As per the assessment of Indian Metrological Department and Other International MET agencies ‘Fani’ is going to be one of the severest cyclone the turbulent east coast of India has ever witnessed. As Fani proceeds closer to the coast OMMCOM NEWS tracks Live updates of the Natural Calamity.
11:00 am- Severe thunderstorm with intense rainfall and wind speed reaching 140 to 150 kmph gusting to 165 kmph likely to occur at Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsingpur between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Similar conditions but with wind speed reaching 90 to 100 kmph gusting to 115 kmph likely at Khorda (including Bhubaneswar), Kendrapada, Jajpur, Denkanal, Bhadrak, Balasore and Nayagadh between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Moderate to severe thunderstorm with intense rainfall and squally wind speed reaching 60 to 70 kmph gusting to 80 kmph likely at Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and adjoining districts between 11 am to 2 pm.
10:40 am- 3 Navy aircraft at standby in Visakhapatnam to help Odisha Government and administration in damage assessment and relief distribution requirements
10:25 am- Eye of the cyclone has completely moved into land by 10 AM. Reports suggest that Puri and Jagatsinghpur will be most affected and high wind speed will continue till evening.
9:45 am- Wind speed also picks up pace in capital city Bhubaneswar. Expected to cross 100 kmph in next few hours, informed sources.
9:20 am- Wind speed recorded was 175-185 kmph gusting upto 200 kmph in Puri.
9:00 am- Several electric lines also snapped in the process and many villages were also cut off due to the wrath of the nature.
8:45 am- Tree branches and hoardings in mainland Puri snapped due to ferocity of the wind speed and visibility became negligent as rain battered the area.
8.18 AM- Landfall process has already begun in the coastal areas with Puri recording wind speed of 175 kmph
8.10 AM- Landfall Process Begins In Odisha
7.45 AM- The extremely severe Cyclonic Storm FANI lay centered about 70 km south-southwest of Puri, 55 km southeast of Gopalpur. Landfall process 8 am to 12 noon.
6.30 AM- The extremely severe Cyclonic Storm FANI lay centered about 80 km south-southwest of Puri, 65 km southeast of Gopalpur.
5.10 AM- Gopalpur now at 0430 IST 3rd May, 105 KMPH wind speed and 139mm rainfall.
3.30 AM- about 140 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha), about 80 km southeast of Gopalpur (Odisha), about 215 km northeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), and 440 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal).
2.30 AM- 180 kilometres South-Southwest of Puri and 200 kilometres East-Norttheast of Vishakhapatnam.
