Cyclone FANI: Landfall Expected Tomorrow Between 8 AM To 10 AM Near Puri

Bhubaneswar: While it was being forecast earlier that extremely severe Cyclone Fani will make landfall in the late afternoon of May 3 (Friday), office of Special Relief Commissioner has informed today that the time of landfall has been revised to tomorrow between 8 am and 10 am in the morning.

The landfall will start between these two hours and continue up to 12.00 o clock in the afternoon.

After news broke of early landfall, evacuation process was expedited. As many as 8 lakh vulnerable people will be shifted to safer places before landfall. According to the IMD, landfall is expected tomorrow anywhere between Gopalpur and Chandbali area. At the time of landfall, wind will gust between 170 to 200 kmph.

The storm over Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved at speed of 16 kmph and lay centered about about 360 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha), 190 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 550 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal) today afternoon.
