Cyclone Fani: 10 Lakh People Evacuated In Last 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: With only a couple of hours left when extremely severe cyclone Fani makes a landfall, the State Government effected the evacuation of around 10 lakh persons in the last 24 hours.

Multiple agencies of the Government were pressed into service to facilitate evacuation in such a mass scale from the vulnerable districts.

As per latest reports, three lakh persons from Ganjam and 1.3 lakh persons from Puri districts were evacuated between 6 am of Thursday and 6 am on Friday. Fani is expected to make a landfall between 8 am and 10 am at Puri today morning.

The monstrous cyclone has prompted the biggest evacuation in the country's history. More than 100 million people are in the path of the devastating cyclone, and nearly 900,000 people were ordered to evacuate.
