Kendrapara: As Cyclone Amphan crossed coastal Odisha, a pregnant woman Janaki Sethi (20) of Kendrapara’s Mahakalpada went into labour pains.
Although they have contacted the ambulance the service couldn’t be made available to them as the road was completely blocked due to fallen trees in cyclone ” AMPHAN”.
On receiving the information, two fire service team with men and equipment rushed to the spot. They cleared 22 fallen trees on the road by use of power saws despite strong winds and torrential rain.
Risking their lives, they carried the hazardous operation and reached the spot. The lady was undergoing severe pragmatic pain and the Fire service team immediately carried the woman for treatment.
However, on the way to CHC Mahakalapada(hospital), the lady gave birth to a girl child inside the Fire service vehicle. The fire service team tried their best to provide assistance to both mother and newborn baby and took them to CHC Mahakalapada for further treatment.
The timely and dedicated effort of OFS personnel saved two precious lives.
